Dale Whitten Ball, Sr., 78, of Louisa, passed away October 27, 2009. He was born in Bluefield, WV September 29, 1931 to Charles Edward Ball and Mattie Short Ball.
Dale served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army. He worked as a roofing contractor, he was an avid Washington Redskins fan, he loved reading especially history, watching western movies and listening to Bluegrass music.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Joy Lynn Spitzer (Harold) of Louisa, his sons, Dale Whitten Ball, Jr., and Wayne Edward Ball (Dorothy) all of Charlottesville, his sisters, Willie Mae Hess, Hazel V. Ford, and Delores J. Smith, his grandchildren, Maria, Damien, Eric, Amber, Jessica, and Elizabeth, his great grandchildren, Dallas M. Barnes and Blake M. Barnes, numerous nieces and nephews to include a special great niece, Cindy Draves and her daughter Sam Draves, and a special friend his cat "Shadow".

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Elizabeth Ball, his brothers, Charles E. Ball, Jr., Jackie W. Ball, and Ralph E. Ball, and a grandson, Justin R. Marshall.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Woodward Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 in the Woodward Funeral Home Chapel, The Rev. Mike Nickle will officiate. Burial will be private.
