Doris Carter Beattie, 90, of Louisa, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. Doris was born August 25, 1919 in Richmond to the late Edward Lee Carter and Clara Butler Carter. She was the widow of George James Beattie. Mrs. Beattie is survived by a cousin Mary Ellen Butler of Richmond, Va and a cousin Clara Cardwell of Acampo, CA as well as a close friend and caretaker, Ann Shiflett of Louisa, VA.
Mrs. Beattie moved to Louisa in 1988 from Richmond and resided at the Epworth Manor Apartments until June, 2009 when she took residence in a nursing facility in Charlottesville. At the time of her death she was a resident of the Louisa Healthcare Center.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa with Rev. Steve McClary officiating.
